OUR OPPONENTS: ARSENAL
Arsenal have established themselves as one of the most successful clubs in women’s football.
Between 2003 and 2016 the club won at least one trophy every season, and under Joe Montemurro lifted the Women’s League Cup in 2018 before winning the WSL title again in 2018/19.
Under Jonas Eidevall’s tenure, Arsenal lifted the Women’s League Cup twice and beat European champions Lyon 5-1 on their way to a sold-out Champions League semi-final at the Emirates Stadium in 2023.
Renée Slegers was appointed Arsenal’s permanent Head Coach in January 2025 and extended her contract in January of this year, taking her through to 2029.
During her interim basis, she oversaw an unbeaten run of 10 wins and one draw in all competitions, with 31 goals scored and just five conceded during that time.
Last season the club set three new WSL attendance records at the Emirates Stadium.
