Michael Carrick has responded to the major breaks in Manchester United’s calendar for the remainder of the 2025-26 Premier League season at Old Trafford.

Manchester United fans have already had to wait for the Red Devils to return to Premier League action after last Tuesday evening’s result at the London Stadium.

There is a 12-day period separating Man Utd’s 1-1 Premier League draw against West Ham from the Everton match at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday evening.

The aforementioned break is not the only period where the Red Devils will be out of action from now until the end of the current Premier League campaign.

United have a 22-day period between their match against Bournemouth at the Vitality on 20th March to their clash with Leeds United at Old Trafford on 11th April.

Manchester United were reduced to a 40-match season for the 2025-26 campaign after the Red Devils made their exit from the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup as well.

The Red Devils also entered the current campaign without European football after Man Utd’s defeat in the 2025 Europa League final to Tottenham in Spain.

Speaking at Friday’s pre-match press conference, Michael Carrick insisted that it is all about “getting the balance right” amid the Red Devils’ periods out of action.

“We try to make it useful in different ways,” he said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“When there is change and the month we had together, it was important to have a couple of days to digest that and take it in.

“The boys have trained a bit, had a few days off, and trained a bit again. It is about getting the balance right, keeping the rhythm, the sharpness right, keeping the focus.”

United legend Carrick added: “I have to say the boys have been really good in training again.

“Moving forward, the fixtures have thrown up a mixture of gaps between games so it is about adjusting and adapting, so we will see what comes of that, especially the international and a bit of a break after that.

“We will manage it as it goes, but obviously, we will try and make the best of it.”

Michael Carrick responds to Man Utd playing further mid-season friendly matches to bolster the limited fixture schedule

United have been tipped to play mid-season friendly matches in Saudi Arabia amid their lack of fixtures in the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.

However, it has not been confirmed whether or not the Red Devils will pursue the aforementioned option and Carrick had his say on the matter as well.

“It depends on a lot of things; there is not a black and white answer,” Carrick explained.

“We will make a call on it. There is a bit of an area in between, it depends on where the game is, what time it is when the fixtures fall, so it is not straightforward and if it is something we need to look at, we can do and if we think it is what is best for the players.”

United will visit the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday and the Red Devils’ Premier League clash with Everton is slated for an 8pm kick-off time in the UK.
