Matty Cash is in contention to return to Aston Villa’s starting lineup when they host Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday.
Cash missed Villa’s last two matches against Brighton and Newcastle with a knee injury he sustained following the draw at Bournemouth in early February.
However, the Polish international is now set to return to Unai Emery’s squad as they look to return to winning ways, having been knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend.
‘Matty Cash is coming back,’ Emery said when asked about Cash’s fitness at his pre-match press conference.
‘He trained the last two training sessions and he is feeling good, and he is coming back.’
Asked about the rest of his squad’s fitness, Emery added: ‘The players who were injured are still being injured – John McGinn, Boubacar Kamara, Youri Tielemans and Alysson.
‘Harvey Elliott, as well, is not available for tomorrow. The other players are available.’

Just one win in their last three league matches have seen Villa drop eight points behind Arsenal, but they can move within five points of the leaders with a win on Sunday after the Gunners drew in midweek against Wolves.
Villa also have trophy aspirations in Europe after securing their spot in the Europa League last-16, but Emery insists the league remains his main focus for the rest of the season.
‘There are 38 matches and we must be consistent, starting in August and finishing in May because through the Premier League you can play in Europe with the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League,’ he said.
‘Of course, to get a trophy, is maybe more difficult in the Premier League than other competitions, [such as the] FA Cup, Carabao Cup or Europa League, but how we can feel consistent, how we can get our challenges in 38 matches to get our first objective through Premier League is the priority.’
