Dominik Szoboszlai has been making headlines due to a potential Real Madrid move and impressive Liverpool form, but he’s not the only Hungarian-born talent on the Reds’ books.

Szoboszlai to Real Madrid was mooted as an option earlier this month, before the Hungarian national team coach then said it was the midfielder’s dream to play for Los Blancos.

Szoboszlai has a value of £74m and has been described by several pundits as Liverpool’s best player in 2025/26.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 25-year-old, but if he does move on, there’s another young Hungarian-born talent waiting in the wings on Merseyside.

Erik Farkas broke a record held by Dominik Szoboszlai

The man in question is Erik Farkas, who Liverpool fans may not be too familiar with, but he has already made history with the club.

In December 2025, at 16 years and three months old, Erik Farkas became the fifth youngest player to debut for Liverpool in the UEFA Youth League.

Not only did he cement himself in the Reds’ history books, but he also became the youngest Hungarian to appear in the competition’s main path, taking the title from Szoboszlai, as per Bence Bocsak.

When did Erik Farkas join Liverpool?

In 2021, Liverpool added Patrik and Erik Farkas to their academy ranks.

Patrik left to play for Blackburn Rovers, but his brother Erik remains at the club after interest from Manchester United and Manchester City.

What position does Erik Farkas play?

Since breaking into the U16 team, Farkas has largely operated in an attacking midfield role, similar to Szoboszlai.

However, he is also capable of dropping slightly deeper and acting as a central midfielder.

Erik Farkas’ Liverpool stats

In 2025/26, the 16-year-old has so far notched 12 appearances in the U18 Premier League.

Farkas has managed to provide four assists in those outings, while also notching his first appearance in the UEFA Youth League earlier this year.

Where was Erik Farkas born?

Born September 5, 2009, Farkas was born in Hungary in the Szeged region.

However, he is eligible to play for England and has made three appearances for the Young Lions at U17 level.
