Arsenal fans are desperate for Max Dowman to start in their FA Cup fifth-round tie against Mansfield in March.

Dowman has been sidelined with an ankle injury since early December and is closing in on a return to action for the Gunners.

🏆 Tell us which Arsenal players who hope to see in action vs Mansfield in the FA Cup?

Max Dowman? Marli Salmon? Myles Lewis-Skelly in midfield?

By the time the fifth round has come around, the 16-year-old should be in a position to play a key role against the League One side.

Arsenal fans have now had their say on the teenager playing his part against Mansfield Town in three weeks.

Arsenal fans want Max Dowman to start vs Mansfield

Arsenal fans are demanding Mikel Arteta hand Max Dowman a start in the fifth round of the FA Cup away at Mansfield Town.

Dowman is back from his injury and now has time to prepare for his second senior start against Nigel Clough’s team.

Bukayo Saka’s move to centre-mid could be great news for Dowman, as there is now a clear pathway to the right wing spot for Arsenal.

After Arsenal drew Mansfield in the FA Cup, fans took to social media to call for the youngster to start in three weeks at Field Mill.

One fan claimed: “Dowman starting against Mansfield might be some viewing!”

“Arsenal to face Mansfield away in the FA Cup fifth round. Hopefully, a chance for Salmon to get more minutes and maybe Dowman as well,” added another.

A third fan claimed: “Mansfield away. We’re gonna see Dowman and Salmon.”

There were further calls for Dowman to start: “Mansfield Town away, we take those! Max Dowman, get ready for your Man of the Match performance.”

Finally, another simply added: “Hopefully, Dowman is fit for that tie, which is important for him.”

Arteta will be delighted with the fifth-round tie as it will give him a chance to rotate and field some of his fringe players against the League One team.

Mikel Arteta must use Myles Lewis-Skelly in midfield

Myles Lewis-Skelly was denied the chance to start in midfield against Wigan Athletic following an injury to Riccardo Calafiori in the warm-up.

Arteta moved Lewis-Skelly back into left-back and Saka into the midfield, which will have been a big disappointment for the teenager.

Hopefully, the fifth-round tie will be Lewis-Skelly’s chance to impress in the middle of the pitch, rather than at full-back.

Marli Salmon will be another player hopeful of starting against Mansfield.
