Liverpool has discovered it’s FA Cup fifth-round opponents
Liverpool discovered its FA Cup fifth-round opponent on Monday.
The Reds will face a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the next stage of the competition. The fifth-round FA Cup ties will be played on the weekend commencing Saturday, 7 March.
Liverpool was ball no.1 in Monday’s draw, which was held before Macclesfield’s fourth-round tie against Brentford.

Joe Cole and Karen Carney pulled the balls out of the hat, which confirmed the Reds will now travel to Molineux twice in the space of a few days next month.
The Reds face Wolves on 3 March in the Premier League and will have to return the following weekend for the FA Cup tie.
Arne Slot’s side reached the fifth round of the FA Cup after defeating Barnsley and Brighton & Hove Albion in the last two stages of the competition.

Elsewhere in the draw, the standout tie pits Manchester City against Newcastle. Pep Guardiola’s side eliminated the Magpies from the Carabao Cup earlier this month and the clubs meet this weekend in the Premier League.
Mansfield Town’s reward for its cup exploits on Saturday is a home tie against Premier League leaders Arsenal, while Chelsea will travel to Wrexham.
Liverpool is one of 11 Premier League sides still involved in the FA Cup, and despite the Reds drawing a top-flight club, Wolves should offer a relatively straightforward opponent.

The Midlands club currently sits bottom of the Premier League table and has won just one league game all season. It has also lost three of its last four league games but beat Grimsby Town 1-0 to progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Liverpool has won all of its last six meetings with Wolves, and eliminated the club from the FA Cup in 2023.
