A late rally from Everton wasn’t enough at Villa Park, despite chances for debutant Amadou Onana, Anthony Gordon and Salomon Rondon. Lucas Digne’s own goal had put the Blues back in the contest after Danny Ings and Emiliano Buendia strikes for the hosts.

  1. Be careful Frank this squad has seen off many managers 😬 Sean Dyche is available and he knows how to work with mediocrities 🧐

  2. Everton needs two strong holding midfielders. Iwobi is not one of them even he looks industrial n tireless run. To me, Dieng seems a better buy compared to Guirassy but again, needs to trust Lampard instinct n slowly rebuilding BUT not getting relegated.

  3. Hopefully Everton can get Gueye (or somebody like him). Then we could maybe have in our midfield Onana and Gueye as holding midfielders and Iwobi as a playmaker.
Maybe then we should play with a back-four: Tarkowski and Coady as centre-backs and Patterson and Mykolenko as (over-lapping) full-backs.
Of course we need at once at least one new striker, preferably two. It's quite clear that next Saturday we must start with Rondon as our centre-forward and we must be on the front-foot from the kick-off.
