One day, Brentford’s Igor Thiago and Chelsea’s Joao Pedro could both play alongside each other for the Brazil national team.

There is also a possibility of them linking up at club level, with Thiago currently being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

It is being reported that Chelsea are monitoring Thiago amid a very successful season in the Premier League.

Joao Pedro is the CLOSEST Chelsea have had to Didier Drogba since he left… 👀

What do you think?

So how does the Brazilian compare to his compatriot at Chelsea? The Chelsea Chronicle has taken a look.

In the English top flight, Erling Haaland is actually the only striker who has outscored Thiago.

After 26 games, Thiago has scored 17 goals after recording an xG of 14.73, according to FotMob. It means that the Brentford star has bagged seven more goals than Pedro, but the positive news for Chelsea fans is that their Brazilian is also outperforming his xG.

Brentford are backing Igor Thiago to become the best striker in the world one day 😳

In the 26 matches that Pedro has played, he has scored 10 goals from an xG of 8.89.

Pedro does not take as many shots as Thiago. He is currently registering 2.13 per 90 minutes, while Thiago takes 2.49.

Simply put, Thiago is offering more of a threat in the box, but it is important to note that Pedro has also been used as a No.10 at Chelsea this season.

Nevertheless, Pedro has shone in the current campaign, especially under new manager Liam Rosenior. Both the Brazil international and Thiago are two of the best forwards in the Premier League at this moment in time.

Pedro has scored goals for Chelsea this season and some big ones. He does not need to be replaced.

However, if the Blues were to offload Liam Delap, for example, then it would be worth giving serious consideration to bringing Thiago in based on the campaign that he has had at the Gtech Community Stadium.

It has been claimed that Manchester United are watching Delap’s situation in west London, so perhaps there is a possibility of him leaving in the summer.
