But the former Seagulls midfielder believes chairman Tony Bloom will have a plan for the summer.
Danny Welbeck remained on the bench as his side lost 3-0 at Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Fabian Huerler said after the midweek defeat at Aston Villa that he is having to take care with wingers Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh and they were introduced in the second half at Liverpool.
Charalampos Kostoulas led the attack with Harry Howell and Diego Gomez in support.
Lallana told TNT Sports: “You can’t roll Danny Welbeck out week in, week out and it becomes evident.
“You have got Harry Howell and Kostoulas, an 18-year-old and 17-year-old, and (Diego) Gomez, he is only in the league a year.
“I think that shows and was extremely evident out there this evening.
“It was an okay performance but without any real killer instinct out there.”
Welbeck, who is understood to be fully fit, was not thrown on as changes were made on the second period.
Lallana said: “Danny Welbeck, you got to have in cotton wool because, if you lose Welbz and you have only got Kostoulas there, they seem short up top with Evan Ferguson being on loan at Roma.
It seems a little bit odd at the moment, looking at the squad.
“But, knowing how Brighton work, I think Tony Bloom will have something up his sleeve in the summer.”
Ex-Liverpool winger Steve McManaman believed his old side had a comfortable evening and said of Albion: “I just thought they were little bit lightweight.”
Lallana said: “They had a few moments at the end of the first half.
“Interesting Arne said he didn’t think it was a 3-0 game.
“He is an honest manager.
“But Brighton will be disappointed. It’s kind of where they are at the moment.
“I think a Brighton of a year or two years ago would have had a good chance today against a Liverpool team and where they are at.
“But Brighton are going to have to dust themselves down.
“They have got a big league game next week against Brentford and they don’t want to get dragged into a relegation battle.
“You mention Danny Welbeck and why he didn’t play.
“Fabian would have been looking after him, same with James Milner, who played during the week.
“If you are in a relegation battle you want your experienced players out there who know the league, know what is required.
“They are getting close to getting sucked in.”
