Poch is not the answer. We need to look forward, not behind.
I’m more upset that our reported shortlist does not include Naglesmann or Xabi. This *speaks to a huge lack of ambition from the club.
Maybe they won’t come here, but the fact that we are not even trying speaks volumes.
This obsession with Prem Proven needs to end. Players or managers. It’s a mid club mentality. Top clubs employ the most talented people wherever they can source from.
Relegation/Promotion specialists and league proven are overwhelmingly sought by certain tier of clubs. All top clubs understand they are taking a risk by bringing in someone from abroad and sometimes it won’t pay off.
We are so risk averse that even when we do manage to get something right, we fuck it up because we can’t make peace with something not working out. Don’t have to tear apart something cuz it didn’t go in the right direction. A coach didn’t work out, find the best one for the situation you are in. Instead of trying to “rebuild” your way into not being into that situation again. Keep the same profile of coach and players. Even if it doesn’t work. Can’t keep flip flopping styles and goals because something failed.
The owners have no appetite for football, only business risk. Levy had football appetite but was managed to optimise for investments and long term capital gains. Vinai is a coordinator with risk appetite but doesn’t make decisions and isn’t trusted by the owners.
Need a top mentality risk tolerant CEO and DOF fo a few years to cultivate a culture of competing at highest level by employing the best people.
