Thomas Frank’s sorry reign as Tottenham Hotspur boss finally came to an end, with the Dane relieved of his duties after just eight-months in charge. He departs with Spurs hovering precariously above the relegation zone, having recorded the worst points-per-game record of any Tottenham boss in Premier League history.

It’s safe to say Frank doesn’t leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with too many well-wishes from the Spurs faithful, but where does he rank among the worst managers to have taken charge of the north London outfit? Express Sport have trawled through the archives to pick out the 10 worst of the Premier League era.

    10 – George Graham

    Spurs v Charlton

While appointing an Arsenal legend as Spurs boss raised eyebrows at the time, George Graham did at least bring silverware with him to White Hart Lane.

He ended what was an eight-year wait for a trophy in 1999, but things quickly went downhill thereafter.

Graham was sacked following ENIC’s takeover in 2001.

    Tottenham Hotspur v Birmingham

Having enjoyed two caretaker spells in charge, David Pleat was given the full-time job in 2003, but it didn’t last long.

He was credited with unearthing talent from the lower divisions, while also playing a key role in the signings of Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe and Paul Robinson.

However, with just 14 wins from 38 Premier League matches in charge, Pleat makes the list.

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United - UEFA Europa League Final 2025

A scrappy Brennan Johnson goal is the only thing stopping Ange Postecoglou from being towards the top (or bottom, depending on which way you look at it) of this list.

Ultimately, the eccentric Aussie delivered on his promise by bringing a trophy in his second season.

However, in that second season, Postecoglou did guide Spurs to a disastrous 17th-place finish and was deservedly sacked for doing so.
