Stanley Watts asked a question to the council about the creation of a memorial garden for those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr Watts said: “As someone who has worked with the NHS for over 30 years and worked through the pandemic, many of my colleagues who gave their lives I am asking whether BCP can create a memorial garden dedicated to those victims and the NHS workers that worked through Covid.”

Councillor Sandra Moore thanked Mr Watts for his dedication to the national health service, she said: “There are Covid-19 memorials located within each of the three main NHS sites in Bournemouth Poole and Christchurch, these are marked by memorial stones and buried time capsules.”

Cllr Moore confirmed that BCP is exploring a potential Covid memorial in Pocket Park, Boscombe.

Establishing this memorial could be included in phase two of the town fund development.

BCP Council supported the annual day of reflection last year and is asking the CEO of University Hospitals Dorset if the local authority can join them for this years day of reflection on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
