In the January window, Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi was strongly linked with a move to Chelsea, and it appears that interest remains among the decision makers at Stamford Bridge.
Senesi, 28, has earmarked himself as one of the Premier League’s best defenders outside of the top six clubs since he swapped Feyenoord for Bournemouth in 2022. He’s even won himself two Argentina caps.
As things stand, Senesi is out of contract at Bournemouth this summer. The four-year deal he signed in 2022 is coming to an end, and any chance of him putting pen to paper on new terms seems unlikely.

Plenty of clubs have been linked, and Chelsea are chief among them. In January, Chelsea compiled a three-man list of defensive targets that included new Liverpool star Jeremy Jacquet and Jacobo Ramon.

That list also included Senesi, and while he has remained at The Vitality for now, he will be on the move come the summer. The 28-year-old has since attracted interest from Everton, Crystal Palace and Brighton.

Chelsea also remain interested in Senesi, but a new report from Tutto Juve indicates where Senesi would like to go in the next few months. Indeed, Barcelona and Juventus are also touted as interested parties.
Well, the report claims that Senesi sees Barcelona as his ‘dream’ move. He feels a move to the Nou Camp is the next-best move for his career, ahead of clubs like Juventus, Chelsea or any other English outfit.
Interest in Marcos Senesi shows clear change of strategy
Over the years, Todd Boehly and Clearlake have treated Chelsea like a business, bringing in players that have resale value and are below the age of 25. Interest in Senesi is a realisation that change is needed.

At 28, Senesi is an experienced defender, one with more than 300 club appearances under his belt and with Premier League know-how. Perhaps, because he’s available for nothing, Boehly is more willing.
He might not make any profit on Senesi, and if he does, it will be a small-ish fee. But he knows he won’t lose any money on the Argentine either. It is a change of strategy though, willing to bring in experience.
