An inspection of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS), in Ophir Road, was carried out following the issuing of a Section 29A waning notice to the clinic.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) said it issues such a warning when significant improvement is required.
BPAS in Bournemouth, now rated ‘good’, provides termination of pregnancies, family planning, treatment of disease, disorder or injury, as well as surgical, diagnostic, and screening procedures.
On October 8, the CQC inspected the hospital to check that changes had been made following the Section 29A warning notice.
The report found improvements made after the previous inspection had been “embedded and sustained.”

The inspection covered safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness, and well-led aspects of the hospital’s services.
The hospital also operates a Telemedicine Hub, delivering “Pills by Post” services.
This provides telephone consultation and remote early abortion services for women over 16 years, for up to nine weeks and six days into pregnancy.
The CQC assessment involved discussions with four patients and a review of five patient records, including nursing and theatre notes as well as prescription charts.
The hospital was found to protect patients from ‘avoidable harm and abuse’, assess and mitigate risks, and have enough staff to guarantee patients’ safety and meet their needs.
By September 2025, the clinic achieved 90 per cent compliance, and the telemedicine hub had a plan to reach full compliance by January 2026.
Feedback from patients was positive.
Patients complimented the staff for treating them with “kindness and dignity” as well as delivering “effective care and treatment”.
