Liam Rosenior’s 100% run as a Premier League manager came to an end in underwhelming circumstances as Chelsea took on Leeds United at Stamford Bridge.

Despite the Blues flying into a 2-0 lead through Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer, some calamitous defending let their old rivals back into the game.

Fingers were pointed at Josh Acheampong for his performance at the back, while it was comfortably the worst Moises Caicedo has played in a while.

Two points dropped against Leeds United…

Even though there were complaints that Leeds’ second goal was allowed to stand, however it has to be said that Chelsea had plenty of opportunities to win the game.

Palmer missed an absolute sitter late on, a chance Rosenior said he would score ‘999 times out of 1000’.

The late effort added significantly to Chelsea’s 3.65 xG in comparison to their opponents’ 1.35 xG. According to OptaJoe, this is the highest figure in a game the Blues haven’t won since 2024.

For context, this is nearly the same amount of xG that they created against Charlton in Rosenior’s first game in charge, although they scored five goals that day.

Creating chances has certainly not been difficult for the Blues since Rosenior took over, however an issue which has cropped up under previous managers stung them again against Leeds.

The game in question in 2024 was Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Burnley, where they created more than 4 xG.

Chelsea fans – was Rosenior to blame, or was it the players? 😤

Chelsea failed to hold on to a 2-0 lead over Leeds.

Mauricio Pochettino was in charge of the club back then, and this game was an accurate one-match summary of his time at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer scored twice, however Burnley goalkeeper Arijanet Muric made 11 saves to keep the rest of the side out.

Given Chelsea’s excellent start to life under Rosenior, there will be hope that he does not continue to fall into Pochettino habits, given how unremarkable his only season in charge was.
