Bristol City Women earned a point on the road at Ipswich Town this afternoon at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Charlotte Healy made three changes to the side that beat Southampton in the Adobe FA Cup last weekend, as Marine Dafeur, Vera Jones and Harley Bennett made way for Emily Syme, Lexi Lloyd-Smith and Camila Sáez.

Ipswich found a first-half opener before substitute, Harley Bennett levelled the scoring midway through the second period.

City currently sit third in the table.

The Robins struggled to settle during the opening exchanges in Essex and found themselves behind early on.

Just 14 minutes in, Thomas gave the hosts the lead, volleying home from close range following a set-piece.

Searching for a response, it was captain Vicky Losada who came close to drawing City level, striking well from distance although she saw her effort palmed to safety.

Ipswich threatened to extend their lead shortly after, but Jenna Dear fired well over from the edge of the area.

City’s frustration began to grow as a golden opportunity went begging with pressure mounting.

Ward had surged down the left before picking out an unmarked Robinson inside the are, however her strike from 12 yards was comfortably gathered by Negri.

Lloyd-Smith had the final chance of the half, again testing the Ipswich goalkeeper from range, but the hosts held firm to take a one-goal lead into the interval.

A Healy triple change in the second half proved pivotal: Jones, Bennett and Gale were all introduced and had positive effects.

City found an equaliser midway through the second period when substitute Harley Bennett rose highest to meet Emily Syme’s superb delivery from a set piece.

From then, both sides pushed for a winner yet neither were able to find the breakthrough.

The 1-1 draw sees City cement their place in third in the Women’s Super League 2 table after 13 games.

Starting XI: Bentley (GK), Ward, Struck, Sáez, Morgan (Bennett 58′), Losada (Dafeur 57′) Ingle (Farrugia 88′), Lloyd-Smith, Syme, Robinson (Gale 58”), Hardy (Jones 78′).
