The blue‑and‑white vessel, named Just Chillin, first appeared on St Martin’s Close in late October and quickly became an “eyesore” and a “pain,” according to locals who repeatedly reported it to the Southampton City Council.

Redbridge councillor Sally Goodfellow confirmed that contractors attempted to remove the boat last week but were initially blocked by parked cars.

Civil enforcement officers later coned off the street to allow access. However, confusion arose when contractors reported the boat missing during a follow‑up visit.

Cllr Goodfellow has since clarified that the owner appears to have moved the boat themselves before removal could take place.

The boat was abandoned over a mile from the water, its engine removed, and its roof was later smashed.

A yellow destruction notice with a December deadline had been posted to its stern.
