WAB have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2025-26 Fantasy Premier League season. Brighton host Crystal Palace in FPL Gameweek 25 and one player who could capitalise on recent problems for the Eagles is Kaoru Mitoma.

The Albion come into the game looking for a first win over their arch rivals under Fabian Hurzeler. The Youngest Permanent Manager in Premier League History needs a result after a run of one victory in 11 and a smattering of boos at full time of last weekend’s 1-1 home draw with Everton.

With sections of the Amex crowd seemingly turning on the head coach, what better way to lift the mood and get people back onside than by winning one of the most important matches of the season for Seagulls supporters?

More late misery for the Albion against the Toffees

The visit of Everton to the Amex was the third match in a row involving Brighton with an injury time goal. One has now gone in favour of the Albion and two against.

It was goalless with the Toffees until the 73rd minute. The closest either team came in that time was when Danny Welbeck (£6.2 million) put his big-chance header off target in the first half.

Eventually, the deadlock was broken by Pascal Gross (£5.5 million). The German set up plenty of chances in FPL Gameweek 23 at Fulham and on this occasion, took it upon himself to put the ball in the back of the net.

A square pass from Yasin Ayari (£4.8 million) was superbly dummied by Charalampos Kostoulas (£4.8 million), allowing Gross to sweep home by the penalty spot for his first goal since returning to Brighton from Borussia Dortmund.

Gross also collected defensive contribution (DefCon) rewards and the maximum bonus allowance, meaning he earned his FPL managers 12 points.

At the other end, Bart Verbruggen (£4.5 million) brilliantly denied Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (£4.9 million).

Verbruggen ended up with an extra point for making three saves over the 97 minutes. Even though he saw the rebound from the third of those tapped in by Beto (£5.0 million) 30 seconds before the final whistle as the Albion dropped more points right at the death.

Brighton FPL Spotlight: Kaoru Mitoma (£6.1 million)

Another Opta-defined big chance against Everton was attributed to Kaoru Mitoma (£6.1 million). A lovely one-two with Welbeck put Mitoma close to goal with his tight angled-shot flying narrowly wide of the post.

Mitoma led the way last season in terms of FPL points for Brighton players, racking up 145. He was also best for chances created (37), touches inside the box (169), shots on target (27) and big chances (19).

But having averaged just short of 14 attacking returns in each of the three previous campaigns, an ankle injury has restricted minutes for Mitoma in 2025-26.

Since returning from the problem at the end of December, Mitoma has now made five consecutive starts. He was very lively facing the Toffees, also being denied a goal when an offside flag went up against Joel Veltman (£4.3 million).

Mitoma could be a very smart differential pick for FPL managers, knowing that Palace have a mere three points from nine league matches and saw their FA Cup defence ended at the first hurdle by seventh tier Macclesfield Town.

Not only that, but the Eagles sold captain Marc Guehi in the January transfer window and know Wembley-winning manager Oliver Glasner will leave at the end of the season.

FPL Gameweek 24 best of the rest

The first bunch of Gameweek 24 matches brought big news to owners of Bukayo Saka (£9.9 million). The Arsenal winger had to pull out after getting injured during the warm up away against Leeds United.

So, in stepped Noni Madueke (£6.8 million) to assist the opening goal and then spectacularly score a corner kick. Not a bad replacement for Mikel Arteta to turn towards.

An hour of action for Madueke secured 14 points, one more than Casemiro (£5.6 million), Alex Scott (£5.0 million) and Hugo Ekitike (£8.9 million).

Ekitike responded to 500,000 sales coming into Gameweek 24 by netting twice past Newcastle United. In fact, across the last four Gameweeks, he has been ditched over two million times.

Joining Ekitike on two goals was Dominic Solanke (£7.2 million) – including one stunning ‘scorpion kick’. Florian Wirtz (£8.3 million) sat alongside Solanke and Gross on 12 points.

FPL Gameweek 25 players in demand

Joao Pedro (£7.5 million) came on at half time for Chelsea in their impressive comeback win over West Ham, falling just short of 12 points himself despite only being on the pitch for 45 minutes.

It is two successive appearances now where Pedro has scored and assisted, explaining an explosion in his popularity.

Although the fact he initially sat on the bench against the Hammers shows how risky a purchase he could be as Liam Rosenior rotates through a heavy upcoming schedule.

Teammate Enzo Fernandez (£6.8 million) seems a more secure starter and made it four goals in six with his dramatic comeback winner past West Ham.

Predictably, near-namesake Bruno Fernandes (£9.6 million) continues to be acquired by many. The most-bought individual for both Gameweeks 23 and 24, his four outings since his return from injury have delivered five assists and 32 points.

FPL Gameweek 25 captaincy

Well done to those FPL managers who captained Fernandes over Erling Haaland (£15.0 million) for Gameweek 24.

Another below-par display from Haaland made it one goal and one assist in seven matches for the most expensive player in the game.

The Norwegian has a tough trip to Liverpool up next. Even though he did score in Gameweek 11’s reverse meeting at the Etihad Stadium, this could be another good time to go against Haaland.

Many will turn to Fernandes as Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur. But backing a Chelsea attacker at Wolverhampton Wanderers could pay dividends and there is also Jarrod Bowen (£7.6 million) for West Ham against Burnley.
