West Bromwich Albion are now reportedly racing to sign a teenage star ahead of rivals Aston Villa in the summer.
Ramsay admits “disappointment” after tough start
West Brom currently find themselves in an unprecedented position. The Baggies, who often find themselves competing for a playoff place, currently sit inside the relegation zone in the Championship and on their second failing manager of the season.
Those at The Hawthorns invested in young manager Ryan Mason at the start of the season, before handing him his marching orders. Since then, the task has been down to Eric Ramsay, who has endured a catastrophic start.

Derby County 1-1 West Brom
Portsmouth 3-0 West Brom
Even the 33-year-old, himself, couldn’t hide his disappointment after such a slow start. He told reporters last week: “It is difficult to say there has been a huge uplift in performance since I have been here.
“We are very disappointed that we haven’t been able to move the group further along. There will be no blindly following a path without adjustment. We will take a really good look at how we move forward.
“We need to address some of the basics like fighting for second balls. We also need to look at macro and systematic factors. I certainly won’t be blaming individual players.”

West Brom may have just signed their next Morgan Rogers
West Bromwich Albion may finally have their own Morgan Rogers in this talented young starlet.
Up next, West Brom play host to Stoke City on Saturday where victory is a must. Anything other than three points would increase the pressure on Ramsay, with reports already claiming that the Baggies are interested in Russell Martin.
Be it under Ramsay or another manager, something needs to change quick, especially if West Brom are going to beat Aston Villa to a teenage sensation in the summer.

Having already welcomed young players on loan like Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba in January, those in the Midlands have reportedly turned their attention towards Scotland.

5 years after leaving, West Brom ace is better than Jimoh-Aloba & Mustapha
This star who left West Brom almost five years ago is now a bigger talent than the club’s two exciting signings.
According to Football Insider, West Brom are now racing to sign Bailey Rice ahead of rivals Aston Villa. The 19-year-old Rangers gem is set to leave the Gers as a free agent this summer, having so far failed to sign a new deal, and that’s when West Brom could land a bargain deal.
The midfielder is certainly highly-rated in Scotland, with coach and analyst John Walker praising his “aggressive” passing ability back in 2024.

Revealing his information about the teenager, reporter Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Yeah, look it’s a real possibility. He’s out of contract in the summer, no new deal agreed as yet at Ibrox.
“So I’m sure there’s clubs in England looking at a situation ready to bring him down on a pre-contract. Villa and West Brom have been long-term admirers of the midfielder.
“It’s a difficult one for Rangers because he’s been out injured for so long, Bailey Rice has missed the last five months with a serious knee injury. He might not return before the end of the season so he could move on after that.”
