Supporters of the Nimsdai Foundation came together on Sunday, February 1, for Trash Trek, collecting over 175 kilograms of waste from the streets of Bournemouth in one and a half hours.
Volunteers of all ages took part, with families and children as young as five joining forces to help clean up the local environment. The event highlighted the power of small, collective actions, and the impact communities can make when they come together.
Glen Mallen, Nimsdai Foundation’s Executive Director said: “The same values that protect fragile mountain environments begin with everyday action. Looking after our local streets and public spaces is part of the same responsibility we carry into the mountains. Small actions really do have a global impact.”
The Bournemouth litter pick marked the first Trash Trek event of its kind and will help shape plans to expand the initiative more widely, encouraging everyone to take ownership of their local environments while contributing to a bigger global movement.
