I’ve been watching Jules Koundé closely this season, and I keep going back and forth on whether his performances are actually declining, or if the situation around him makes things look worse.
There are moments where his positioning feels off or decisions come a bit late, but at the same time, Barcelona haven’t looked defensively settled for long stretches. It makes me wonder how much of this is on Koundé himself and how much comes from tactical changes, pressure, and expectations at a club like Barça.
Defenders always seem to take the blame first, especially when the structure in front of them isn’t consistent.
I wrote a longer breakdown on this because I’m genuinely curious what other Barça fans think — is this a confidence issue, a system issue, or just a normal adaptation phase?
Would love to hear your thoughts.
