If rumours intensify after this, then its clear that he’s unhappy with the manager and the club management.

  2. Makes sense, he’s clearly sick of our board and extended based on false promises. Probably gave us longer than he should’ve

  3. It’s clear as day promises were made when he signed his new contract and the club hasn’t delivered against them.

Here we go again with the rumours. The guy just signed a new contract…. Can we focus on the real issues at hand for once?

  5. Gaston Edul is the guy who interviewed Romero last season when he was angling for the Atletico move

  6. Not unexpected given all the links over the past couple years, and him genuinely being a world class defender who reasonably could have club ambitions he wants to match his national team accolades.

Will be absolutely gutted if it comes to pass, though.

Something has to have happened between the romero post and now in the club

Romero has probabley made his kind up before but for this to come out right now seems too much of a coincidenc3

  8. Dont blame him or anyone else that wants to leave. This club is run by amateurs that don’t know what they want. Unless serious things are to change, I don’t see us staying in the PL. ENIC either have to heavily invest and make us become elite or they have to fuck off.

Came very close to making a formal offer? What the fuck is that shit?

If clubs want to sign him, then put in a proper bid. If they’re not going to do that, then they can fuck right off.

  10. Obviously. Careers are short and this club has proved again and again that it has no ambition. Wish him well.

  11. A rumor like this to come out after his rant was the least surprising thing that could’ve happened. Not saying it’s untrue but this is low hanging fruit for journalists

  12. Cant say I blame him really. Club is showing negative ambition.

Uninspired manager combined with a thrift store board.

We’ve gone so far backwards after a positive 2010s, really needed heavy investment in 2019 and we didnt bother.

Looking more and more like the spurs of the early 2000s, occasional good player but middle of the road results. The club that was the selling club for the bigger teams.

And Micky won’t sign a new contract. So the recruitment strategy is working out perfectly.

  14. When he signed the contract, it seemed pretty likely there would be some kind of release clause in it so he could escape if the club wasn’t meeting his standards. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if it suddenly emerges around April time that he’s available for a comically low fee in the summer.

  15. Fair, go well. He’s had his ups and downs but you can’t say he didn’t try, he wants more from this club but it’s clear they aren’t going to do that

Unless we have another Harry Kane in the academy, or we can find a Son Heung Min before anyone else does, this death spiral is never going to stop.

  17. Just signed a new contract, would be among the highest fees ever paid for a CB (it is not going to happen).

Him and VdV will both leave. Then we will repeat this cycle with Luka. Club never builds around its stars. Joke

I know I’m in the minority, but take the money. He’s a great player, but he is too emotionally volatile and childish to be club captain.

  20. Honestly, I don’t blame him. The club is going nowhere and he probably has more ambition than battling relegation.
