[Sam Tabuteau] Tottenham have appointed Liam Horgan as the club’s first-team rehabilitation physiotherapist as the club tackles a crippling injury crisis. Horgan worked with Thomas Frank & Spurs’ head of medical, Nick Stubbings, during five years as Brentford’s first team physio between 2019 & 2024.

  1. It’s like sending the best airplane mechanic to the site of the plane crash. But I guess we need the mechanic at some point…

  2. Would he reduce the number of injuries we have had? We keep replacing the medical staff every year and I don’t think it’s helping us much here.

Guess Spurs team would be a good case study for the medical students on what not to do.

    Isn’t exactly great news.

Brentford had the worst injuries (by amount of games missed) in the PL before Stubbings joined us with Frank.
    Horgan was part of that.

Brentford were happy to get rid of their medical staff when they followed us because of how shit they were.

I dunno where it comes from or how much was just fans being mad but I remember Brentford supporters being ecstatic that they were getting rid of Stubbings and had said that he was a nutter that did some weird stuff to players to solve injuries that were basically bordering on Homeopathy.

  4. Liam Horgan comes fully equipped with a shotgun and a big lovely field out in the countryside where injured players can run free and happy. Unfortunately we’ll never be able to visit them.

  5. I’m glad they’re addressing this but this appointment is more backing of Frank. Feck this club

  6. If we aren’t buying any players, we should just spend the 100m warchest on the medical team. And maybe another 100 scouts

  7. Great. more Brentford staff. They’ve done such a brilliant job for us so far so why the fuck not

It doesn’t exactly scream “thorough process and best person for the job” when you end up appointing the manager’s best mate AGAIN, does it?

    Jobs for the boys.

  9. We’re still hiring people from Brentford? Wasn’t their injury crisis also terrible despite a much smaller amount of games?

The next announcement needs to be that they relieved Lange of his duties.

  10. The board wants us to be Brentford, they want us to be Everton and you’re sitting there with your hands in your pockets letting it happen.

  11. According to Transfermarkt, he was only with Brentford’s main squad from the summer before the 23/24 season – the season Brentford had an injury crisis that left them limping to a 16th place finish on 39 points. And that was with barely any additional games in the domestic cup competitions, because they crashed out the FA and League cups in the third round. In September 2024 (start of the new season) he’d gone, taking up a post at Crystal Palace.

Prior to that, he was in charge of their B team (from 2016 to 2023).

  13. How incompetent do we have to be to hire the medical team from the only team who had worse injury problems than us?

    What the fuck Vinai?
