Leyton Orient reached an agreement with Manchester United for Jack Moorhouse to be recalled from his loan because they believe his game time could become limited as they attempt to avoid relegation.
Moorhouse signed for Leyton Orient on a season-long loan in August, but it was announced late on Monday that his time at Brisbane Road had been cut short, and that he would return to Manchester.
Leyton Orient have slipped to 18th in League One, just one point above the relegation zone.
They will attempt to fight to maintain their third-tier status during the remainder of the season, which led Leyton Orient manager Richie Wellens to believe Moorhouse’s game time could become limited.
An agreement was reached with United to send Moorhouse back to his parent club earlier than expected.

The youngster made 24 appearances for Leyton Orient and scored once during his time in London.
Wellens said: “Jack is undoubtedly a very talented footballer and I think our fans have seen that in flashes this season. Given the situation we currently find ourselves in, we thought it may limit his game time.

“We have been very open with Manchester United about this. We value our relationship with them and, with him returning, we have been able to bring someone else in to fill the space in the squad.”
The club’s statement said: “Midfielder Jack Moorhouse has returned to parent club Manchester United after an agreement was reached between both clubs.

“Everyone at Leyton Orient thanks Jack for his efforts during the first half the season and wishes him the best of luck for his future career.”
Ruben Amorim named Moorhouse on the bench for home and away Europa League quarter-final legs against Lyon last season, and he made two Premier League matchday squads.
