The January transfer window is now officially closed and Liverpool have opted not to add to their senior ranks for the remainder of the Premier League season.
At 10.30pm tonight (Monday, February 2) the Reds confirmed they have agreed a £60m deal with Rennes to sign centre-back Jeremy Jacquet on July 1. The defender will join on a five-year deal, with the option of a sixth, and will move to Merseyside in time for the start of next season.
The Reds had briefly explored a deal for RB Leipzig’s Lutsharel Geertruida but with Arne Slot’s former Feyenoord captain already on loan at Sunderland, moving the terms over to Anfield and allowing the Black Cats to source an adequate replacement proved too difficult at the late stage of the window.
