Calvin Bassey was at the centre of the conversation with Fulham supporters after a late defeat at Man United.

Man United beat Fulham 3-2, with Benjamin Sesko netting a winner in stoppage time just moments after Kevin had equalised for Marco Silva’s side.

Fulham had come from 2-0 down, with Raul Jimenez scoring from the penalty spot, after Man United had taken the lead through Casemiro and Matheus Cunha.

The Cottagers remain in eighth place and six points below sixth-placed Chelsea, with Silva’s team losing for just the second time in nine Premier League games.

Man United’s winning goal came from Bruno Fernandes’ run down the right channel, with Bassey closely in pursuit of the midfielder.

Bassey opted not to foul Fernandes, and the 31-year-old was then able to find Sesko in the penalty area, who fired the winning goal past Bernd Leno.

The defender had come on as a substitute in the 86th minute, in what was his first appearance for Fulham since December due to his participation at the African Cup of Nations.

After thinking they had stolen a late point at Old Trafford, Fulham fans were left furious with Bassey’s decision not to take a yellow card for the team.

One fan called Bassey an “idiot” whilst another supporter claims the team are unable to manage games in order to see out results.

Bassey was woeful there! Everyone saying Cuenca was poor but that was dreadful.

Bassey’s been absolutely done there. Had to foul him if he gets turned like that.

Forget ST, get a CB in soon. Bassey and Joa aren’t up to a European push…

Bass just has to rugby tackle and reset. Can’t just get skinned and jog along after him. We are so lacking in nous and how to manage games.

Fulham could agree deal with former Chelsea player

Fulham signed Oscar Bobb from Man City in their major January arrival, although the forward was not involved against Man United due to a hamstring injury.

Silva’s future at Craven Cottage is uncertain beyond this season, with the 48-year-old wanting to be backed in the transfer market

Another player could join Silva’s squad for the second half of the season, as the club are pursuing winger Raheem Sterling.

Fulham are in a three-club race to sign Sterling, who is a free agent after having his contract at Chelsea terminated by mutual consent.

Sterling hadn’t played for Chelsea since May 2024, and the 31-year-old failed to have a productive loan spell at Arsenal last season.
