While I understand Ben wanting to be a Head Coach , I hope he realizes that none of these jobs are going to be as good as the one he's got here. The truth is this could end up being a career killer for him.
Hope Payton goes to the L.A. Chargers #savemyFantasyFootballTeam (🤠🤣🤣🤣)
I totally agree with you here. I think it’s too early to make him a head coach. That doesn’t mean a team won’t make a bonehead decision but let’s hope not
I don't think Ben Johnson getting head coach job he needs a little more experience. The is big difference between Head coach and Oc
You’re wrong the Broncos DO have a first round pick from the Bradley Chubb trade.
Carolina is the destination to be worried about. Remember McVay and Lefluer came out of nowhere. BTW LeFluer's Mom was one of my teachers, son's teacher and Grandson's teacher. lol
denver holds miami's first round pick that came from san francisco. acquired it in the bradley chubb trade.
He is coming to Carolina
Great points. I thought Duce Staley would be the guy. The Lions have been grooming him with his experience at the senior bowl.
I think we should stop obsessing over Ben Johnson. He was a virtual nobody before this year. If this was a one read and throw offense, I would be more concerned. But there were a lot of times when Goff's first read was not open and he still made a play. … This passing offense depends less on the OC scheming guys open and more on the QB finding the open window/spot in the defense. I think the Lions will be ok if Johnson makes a bad decision and leaves.
Drew Brees is a shorter QB
Teams that recently fired a first time HC, who previously was an assistant hot shot, will this time turn to an established name, someone that has HC experience
I'll put on my GM hat for a moment. The Detroit Lions have probably the best offensive line in the NFL, which is the main reason for their success. Ben calling plays for one season doesn't qualify for a HC position. He gets a lot of credit for play calling, but MCDC is more a part of offensive strategy and play calling then gets talked about. Hope we don't lose Ben but I'm not really worried.. ONEPRIDE BROTHER!!!!
Mannn I been said Ben would be crazy to leave the hottest team that's now gelling, where you get to run your show and grow, the fans love you, and you can see your stock rising here which is only going to help you ……….JUST TO GO TAKE CHANCES WHERE, AND WITH WHO😂? He'd be crazier than we could ever think…in which case it might be good TO let him go if he makes boneheaded decisions like that😂
I don't think Ben goes HC just yet. He's a pretty sharp dude and knows that HC and OC have vastly different scope and focus. I genuinely believe he'll want another year at least of learning up towards that bigger, wider picture position. I could easily be wrong, and if so I wish him well. He might feel ready as a pole-sitting Indy driver. If he does leave, it isn't the end of the world. But I'm sure this topic will pop up often enough so I'll go into why I'm not real worried about the Lions if he leaves later at some point.
ROAR!!!
well you finally got to where you were going after a convoluted path to finally say ben johnson just is too inexperienced to be a head coach. but hey you did a good job maybe to relieve the worry of people who think ben is going anywhere.
I don't want to see Ben Johnson fail… As a fellow Computer Science person (Ben has a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science) I can say this about what Ben is thinking "IF Ben believes he is ready THEN he will take the job." That said, Ben is super smart – so one tactic he uses is to run prototypes and simulations – it's what we CS people do… So, the act of agreeing to these interviews is simply him taking advantage of the opportunity to interview and learn information – to iterate through the coaching acquisition process. I suspect he's learning and iterating BUT – again – IF – Ben 'believes' he is ready – THEN he will actually say yes to a job.
While it's true there are only 32 of these jobs, it's also true that the bottom teams are ALWAYS looking for a new coach.
Translation: BJ will NOT be missing the train of he just waits a year or two and develops himself.
Also, the Lions, especially if he stays, are going nowhere but up, which further enhances his value.
I totally agree! I have thought this long before you put out this video, I'm so glad you did. Even without Sean Peyton being out there, Our brilliant OC is just not ready. When you watch his media sessions, you get the idea of a very bright, likable guy who doesn't carry a lot of gravitas.
I think at this point in his career sitting under an alpha male like Dan Campbell, he can soar to the heights. I just don't see him carrying the hearts of an entire NFL team, with all their egos, and fighting for him when the times get tough during a rebuild.
If he gets signed on as a head coach right now, I think he will fail miserably.
Drew Brees who played under Sean Payton was only 6’…with cleats on. I don’t think Bryce Young would be a problem at all for Sean Payton to groom into a franchise quarterback.
David teams could trade their 2024 1st round pick?
Ben needs more seasoning , if he goes it makes more sense if a division team takes him away from Detroit right? Lets not jump here too high because teams are being courted by league to give a minority coach and gm the lead chance , if Ben stays he has the advantage of one of top high powered offense teams and just builds his stock Dave thanks for breakdown its offseason for more teams we have more options soon to watch !
