Leeds United have fielded interest in goalkeeper Lucas Perri this week as we head towards the end of the January transfer window.
Daniel Farke is preparing his side for the biggest home test of the season at Elland Road. Arsenal make their way to West Yorkshire this afternoon nervously looking over their shoulders at the four-point gap at the top.
For Leeds, it’s an opportunity (albeit a very slender one) to move further clear of the relegation zone. West Ham and Nottingham Forest play later in the weekend.
Leeds United reject Besiktas bid for goalkeeper Lucas Perri
A surprising transfer development was revealed this week by the YEP’s Graham Smyth on divisive goalkeeper Lucas Perri.
The Brazilian has been taken out of the firing line by Farke of late after two notable, publicly-criticised errors, prompting question marks over his long-term viability as Leeds’ number one.

It’s reported that Leeds received a formal offer from Besiktas to sign the goalkeeper this week. However, it was quickly turned down by the 49ers.
The report in question doesn’t specify the nature or value of the offer fom Turkey. As a result, it can be safely deduced that Besiktas offered a sum that benefits Leeds in no way whatsoever. Leeds signed the ‘keeper from Lyon for a fee that could rise to £15.6million. Therefore, any permanent transfer below that region would further harm our already delicate PSR standing.
Leeds United miss a trick as Nottingham Forest agree shrewd Stefan Ortega loan deal – Fabrizio Romano
In my opinion, replacing Perri in the long run should be something that Leeds are already planning. He’s not had the greatest chance to settle in here, granted. But, there are fundamentals to his game that leave us watching fans watching through our fingers.
So, the natural solution to that would be to nip the situation in the bud and let him leave on loan. In turn, Lees could replace him with a likewise loan – if possible.
Had that sort of arrangement been on the table, Leeds have just missed out on what would have been a considerable improvement.
Fabrizio Romano has relayed reports of Manchester City ‘keper Stefan Ortega heading to bottom-half rivals Nottingham Forest on a permanent, short-term deal:
🚨🌳 Stefan Ortega to Nottingham Forest, here we go! Verbal agreement in place for the goalkeeper.
Permanent move from Manchester City, short term contract and all set for the last minute move.

Ortega’s deal was due to expire in the summer. It means Forest have secured a cut-price deal until the end of this season for the German.
