Aston Villa boss Unai Emery is not expecting any “surprises” in the final days of the winter transfer window.

Tammy Abraham and Douglas Luiz both returned to the club earlier this week and could make their second debuts at Villa Park on Sunday against Brentford.

Leon Bailey was also recalled from his loan spell at AS Roma last week and went straight into the team to face Newcastle United, coming off the bench as Emery’s side won 2-0.

Youngsters Brian Madjo and Alysson were also signed, with the latter – an exciting Brazilian winger – expected to be given a chance in the first team in the final third of the season.

With the deadline coming on Monday, Emery was asked during his pre-match press conference on Friday whether he expects to conduct any more business.

“We were busy in the transfer window and now, on Friday, there are still three days until Monday,” he said.

“I am not expecting a big surprise in the transfer window. How we are now, I am happy and I am happy how we are going to face the different competitions until the end of the season.

“We have to be strong to compete at the level we want. Tammy, Douglas and Leon were here before and hopefully the adaptation will be easy for them.

“We are going to set our demands of them. The players know it. They come here because they know the challenge we have and they must get their individual challenges as well.”
