Hypothetical: What would happen if we had present Playmaker Messi and Haaland Combo?

Okay Hear me out 🙌🏼. This isn’t a post to glaze Messi or Haaland, or to fantasize about this ever happening. But I’m trying to point out a certain hypothetical scenario where by Haaland could produce far more goals if Infact this Duo was a reality.

Now looking at Present Messi, who’s more focused on being a playmaker, and his affinity to creating crazy through balls and passes, even crazier than De Bruyne, how much more productivity would we get out of Haaland?

Something I’ve noticed is Haaland is really good at receiving long through balls due to his speed and strength where he can overpower defenders and chase down the ball, just like in the previous game with the Doku assist.

Now imagine we had a player like present Messi, who’s able to pick out Haaland with his usual crazy through balls, OR imagine that we had this philosophy of playing more through balls for Haaland to chase down, rather than always trying to keep possession and to get right into the box to make a pass. Wouldn’t we be more successful?

Now my question is, why doesn’t City lean into this type of play? Do you guys think this type of play or Duo would be successful?
