Everton’s Premier League home game with Chelsea will be moved if the Londoners get through to the Carabao Cup final

The potential of Everton’s home game with Chelsea being moved if the Londoners get through to the Carabao Cup final could leave David Moyes’ men with a major gap in their season. Five-times winners Chelsea, who last lifted the League Cup in 2015, lost their semi-final first leg 3-2 to Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on January 14.

However, it was announced on Thursday that the if Liam Rosenior’s side were to turn around that deficit at the Emirates Stadium in the second leg next Tuesday (February 3) and make it to the final at Wembley on Sunday, March 22, then their inaugural trip to Hill Dickinson Stadium, currently scheduled for Sky Sports’ 5.30pm television slot on Saturday, March 21, will be moved.

The Premier League fixture will be brought forward by over a month to Tuesday, February 17 (8pm kick-off).

If that change is made, Everton will then have a gaping hole in their season lasting almost a month.

The Blues would be left with 26 consecutive days off between their own trip to the Emirates on March 15 for a Premier League game and their return to the capital to face Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on April 11.

The switch would also mean that Everton have a hat-trick of consecutive home games, like they did at the start of this calendar year, as they would take on Bournemouth on February 10, Chelsea on February 17 and Manchester United on February 23.

In addition, it would mean that starting with the already played matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United, and finishing with Burnley’s visit on March 3, the Blues will have had six consecutive Premier League home fixtures taking place at night in midweek.
