Now that’s some proper man motivation

I’m no football manager, but from my experience working with and leading teams, I think Amorim’s biggest failing was his ego. A manager’s job is to win football matches, and you do that by maximizing the plan and your team’s ability to perform the plan, the latter of which covers the ability to keep a team motivated, bought in. That only happens if you look at your team as co contributors, rather than as pawns executing your perfect imagination of a system.

He was so woefully wedded to the idea of implementing his system that he stopped asking himself how he could maximise his team’s performances today in a way that builds towards his goal. At a big club like united, your chances of winning are tied to your ability to build coalitions and lead everyone together.
