Officers from Dorset Police’s retail crime team and neighbourhood officers in the town have secured three orders in the Bournemouth North patch restricting the activities of the prolific offenders to protect businesses.

All three offenders were issued with community behaviour orders preventing them from entering various stores for a period of two years, as well as prohibiting them from entering any business premises from which they have been banned and not remaining at any store when they have been asked to leave by an employee.

If they are found in breach of these orders, they can be brought back before the court and receive further sanctions.

The force said these orders allow it to compile detailed evidence to put before the courts to demonstrate the impact of the offenders’ behaviour and demonstrates its commitment to using all powers at its disposal to protect businesses and communities.

The targeted Op Shopkeeper initiative focusses on curtailing the activities of prolific shoplifters and working with businesses to identify thieves and bring them to justice.
