Wrexham defender Conor Coady has joined Charlton on loan for the rest of the season.

The 32-year-old has played just six times for the Red Dragons despite arriving in a £2M deal less than 6 months ago.

Coady, a Premier League star who featured for Wolves and Everton, quickly fell out of favour in what is deemed to be one of the worst moves of the summer.

Wrexham were open to allowing him to leave this January, and he has now found a place at League One side Charlton who are battling against relegation this season.

Coady is over the moon

Speaking on the move, Coady says he cannot wait to get started with the side who need defensive reinforcements.

“I’m absolutely over the moon. I’m super excited to play in front of the supporters and get going. When I got the opportunity to come to this football club, it filled me with excitement.

“You want to be part of football clubs like this it’s a huge club and I can’t wait for the first game.”

Manager Nathan Jones added that he is delighted to see Coady join the side as they aim to use his leadership.

“We’re delighted to add Conor. He is a player of immense experience and someone who has played at the highest level and played for his country.

“His leadership and his qualities are something we feel we needed at this time. At this point, we really felt we could utilise his leadership going into the last 18 games.”
