But he will face stiff competition for a place on the left wing when a local favourite returns from injury.

Ibrahim Osman started for Birmingham City as they drew 1-1 with Stoke City.

It was his first taste of English league football after loans in Holland and France.

He went off after 56 minutes, with Blues 1-0 up, in what looked like a pre-planned move given he was enjoying his best spell of the game.

Osman had been short of playing time at previous club Auxerre and has joined Birmingham on loan for the rest of the season.

Blues boss Chris Davies said: “He’s young, he’s quick, he’s an outlet. That’s what he is.

“You saw his pace a few times in the game. He can break away.

“He got outside the full-back in the second half and got into some good areas.

“He’s going to be a good outlet for us.

“His main strength is his pace. I thought he was really promising and actually started the second half really well.

“We wanted to make sure we didn’t play him for too long because he hasn’t been training a lot. Another week’s training will do him good.”

Osman’s arrival has seen fellow winger Lewis Koumas return to his parent club Liverpool.

Demarai Gray is expected to reclaim his spot on the left-wing when fit again.

But Osman showed at Feyenoord he can also play on the right.

Albion are keen to see what he can offer in the highly competitive second tier.

The Ghana international previously played for Nordsjaelland in Denmark.
