The Japan winger has extended her commitment with the club although the length of the deal was not disclosed in the announcement.

Seike memorably scored a hat-trick on her WSL debut in a home over Everton at the start of last season and has continued to be an exciting talent either wide or, at times, in a central attacking role.

She underlined her range of qualities by winning possession and teeing up the winner for Jelena Cankovic as Albion beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park on Friday.

Her goals tally for the Seagulls, who she joined just before playing at the 2024 Olympics, is currently 11 in 37 appearances.

Announcing the new deal, women’s and girls’ managing director Zoe Johnson said: “We’re really happy that Kiko has decided to commit her future to Brighton.

“She has been a key player since joining us in July, 2024.

“She has consistently shown her qualities both on and off the pitch and we’re excited for what Kiko’s future holds at the club.”

Albion are into the final week of their mid-season transfer window and are weighing up further business.

Interim head coach Chris Roberts told The Argus: “Those conversations will come when needed.

“We are all working in close proximity, so I’m sure we will sit down and get ahead of that and, if there is business to be done, I’m sure that the team are working really hard to make it happen.”
