Manchester City have signed Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United for a fee of around £42m. The 26 year old England international leaves his boyhood club to join Pep Guardiola’s side and challenge Rodri at the heart of midfield. I look at what Phillips could bring to City and analyse his game.

  1. Thing I love about KP is that he's faced a lot of tragedy and adversity in his life…he's had every excuse to be a proper scoundrel in this world, but he's just as kind and humble as possible, loves his family and works hard. He's the kind of player whose work ethic and character will elevate those around him. I don't think it's a coincidence the club has given him #4. The spotlight is rightly on Haaland…but I feel over the next couple of years we will look back at signing KP as a massive one. LFG!

  2. I think it's a fantastic signing. Knowing you have Rodri & Phillips to play that role is very reassuring, especially when you factor in how many games Man City players play per season.

As you say, it's going to be a very different team and style of play next season … and I can't wait!

  3. Also it's is reported that Bernardo Silva had asked his agent to get him a move to Barcelona.

Sad to see him go but the club won't stand in his way. It won't be cheap, £80 million (?). If Barća spend the de Jong money and then some then City look at replacement – Grealish (?), another, or one from outside.

  4. People get excited for a window of
    1) Brighton player
    2) Leeds Player
    3) Relegated goalkeeper from the Bundesliga

  5. I’ll explain his injuries and why we don’t need to worry about them. I watched a TIFO video on bielsa teams and Leeds in particular. Basically bielsa overworks his teams a lot so kelvin will be fine when he starts training with us. By the third season, bielsa teams are worn out and finished and kelvin is proof of that and bielsa is not at Leeds anymore.

  6. These are the kind of signing that win championships. It displays forethought, strategy, and planning. It’s not sexy or super high profile but it’s pragmatic and smart. Can’t wait for him to start!

  7. Another excellent video!

Agree with you that this is a very astute bit of transfer business. He strikes me as a very humble lad and I’m looking forward to seeing him develop under Pep

  8. I'm not sure about this fella at all tbh, he's made of glass.. another Rodwell?? We'll see soon enough mcfc 🏆🇮🇪

  9. As a Leeds fan, I’m saddened for our loss, but happy he’s gone to a class outfit. Ultimately, our loss is England’s gain. Good luck, Kalvin 👍

  10. Very happy about all the signings so far. But still feeling sad about Jesus leaving us for Arsenal, can wish him well and success in all honesty.😭

  11. Stephen, I think you might be underestimating just how good of a signing KP is for our team. From his Bernardo-like work rate to his defensive acumen (which will only improve under Pep) to his leadership and character, I think he will be a great addition to and further enhance MC’s team dynamism. I have a feeling he’ll be a more important player to the team in his first year than Grealish will be in his second year…

  12. Steve Wya scott sterling is about to sign for chelsea on a cheap…. i actually wanted him to leave but,… i didnt actually think it would happen lol… I think we need a winger Rafael Leao would be an MENTAL signing but anyways would like to hear your reaction to Sterling leaving so cheap to a league Rival
