Newcastle United are yet to get active in the January window in their pursuit of talent, as there are some issues worth addressing in the side. The injuries to Tino Livramento and Dan Burn are currently hurting the Magpies, while Fabian Schar is also about to miss a significant spell on the sidelines.
A left back is certainly someone Eddie Howe would want to seek, given Dan Burn is also injured, and the load is falling flatly on Lewis Hall, who has also had fitness concerns this season. Hence, Newcastle United are looking at a new left-back of a younger variety that they can develop, but one who can sufficiently provide back-up.
They were interested in Dayann Methalie as a big option, but a knee injury to the Toulouse full-back may have forced the Magpies to look elsewhere. Now, they have stumbled upon the idea of exploring a move for Joaquin Seys from Club Brugge, with the defender’s versatility likely to play a huge role in their interest.
Seys has been performing well for the Belgian side this season, with the 20-year-old midfield sensation seen as a profile very similar to that of Livramento. In short, the defender can play in both full-back roles, but primarily operates as a left-back.
