Leeds United are not working towards a deal for Union Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi at the moment, journalist Graham Smyth has claimed.

The Elland Road side were linked with a move for the centre-back in recent weeks, but Smyth suggests their interest has not progressed beyond the recruitment team considering Doekhi among other options.

The 27-year-old defender is facing an uncertain future in the German capital, with his contract expiring in less than six months.

Union could look to sell Doekhi before the transfer market closes on February 2, potentially their last opportunity to cash in on the defender.

Leeds Not Advancing Doekhi Interest

According to Smyth, while Leeds’ recruitment team have evaluated Doekhi, the Whites’ interest has not advanced any further as of yet.

Doekhi has been with Union Berlin since the summer of 2022, when he joined from Dutch side Vitesse on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old defender has showcased impressive goalscoring abilities during his time in Germany, netting 15 goals in 118 games, nine of which were headed.

Since his Bundesliga debut in 2022, no defender has scored more headed goals in Europe’s five major leagues, earning Doekhi the label of ‘Europe’s top-scoring defender’.

The centre-back has already netted six times in 18 appearances for Union this season, including a brace in the 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich in November.

Leeds Open Jorgen Strand Larsen Talks

Jorgen Strand Larsen

Leeds have made an enquiry over Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen amid their emerging plans to boost Daniel Farke’s frontline this month.

According to reports, the Whites have registered their interest in the Norway international, but it remains unclear whether a potential move could develop.

Wolves are believed to be open to selling Strand Larsen this month amid their precarious Premier League position, sitting rock bottom of the table after 21 games.

After netting 14 times in the league last season, Strand Larsen has only found the back of the net once in 19 outings for the Molineux side in 2025/26, scoring in the 3-2 loss to Burnley in October.
