Two Premier League sides with managers feeling the heat will face off in North London on Saturday afternoon, as Thomas Frank’s Tottenham Hotspur welcome Nuno Espirito Santo’s West Ham United. Spurs are aiming to complete a league double over the Hammers for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign, having secured a 3-0 victory at the London Stadium back in September.
It’s been a bleak start to 2026 for Tottenham, who remain winless since the turn of the year. They have dropped points in Premier League fixtures against Sunderland (and Bournemouth, before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in the FA Cup last weekend. Wilson Odobert pulled one back for Spurs in the second half after Villa went into the break two goals ahead, but Frank’s men couldn’t find an equaliser, crashing out in the third round for the first time since 2013-14.
That latest setback on home turf has increased the pressure on Thomas Frank, who has struggled to get the best out of his squad. Spurs have managed just four wins in their last 24 Premier League home matches, and their two home victories this season mark their lowest total after 10 home games in a league campaign.
Currently languishing in 14th place and six points behind Frank’s former club Brentford in fifth, Tottenham can at least take solace in their recent record against West Ham, having lost just one of their last eight league meetings.
A clean sheet could prove crucial for Spurs, as six of their seven Premier League wins this season have come without conceding. Furthermore, they have only won one of their last 21 top-flight matches when allowing at least one goal – a 2-1 victory over Leeds in October.
West Ham, meanwhile, are in serious danger of ending their 14-year stay in the Premier League. The Hammers sit 18th in the table, seven points from safety, after a painful 2-1 home loss to 17th-placed Nottingham Forest last time out.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are now winless in 10 consecutive league matches, their longest such streak since an 11-game run between December 2006 and March 2007—a sequence that also included a 4-3 defeat to Spurs.
Since taking over from Graham Potter in September, Nuno has managed just three wins in 17 matches as West Ham boss. The most recent came in the FA Cup last weekend, when the Hammers edged past Queens Park Rangers 2-1 after extra time.
However, West Ham fans have reason to be concerned, particularly about their team’s defensive frailties. The Hammers have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 19 matches in all competitions. In the Premier League, they have conceded a league-high 11 headed goals this season, while only Arsenal (nine) have scored more headers than Spurs (nine). West Ham have also allowed more goals from corners than any other top-flight side (12), with Tottenham leading the division in goals scored from corners (11).
On a brighter note, Nuno Espirito Santo has enjoyed success at Tottenham’s ground in the past, winning three of his last five away league games against Spurs—including a 2-1 triumph with Nottingham Forest in April last season.
Tottenham vs West Ham Team News
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has confirmed that Richarlison will be sidelined for seven weeks due to a hamstring injury, joining Mohammed Kudus (thigh), Dejan Kulusevski (knee), James Maddison (ACL), and Rodrigo Bentancur (hamstring) on the injury list.
Pape Sarr remains away on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Senegal, who have reached the final. However, Spurs have strengthened their squad with the £34.7 million January signing of Conor Gallagher, who is available to make his debut. Lucas Bergvall remains a doubt after recovering from a knock, but is unlikely to start against West Ham, meaning Gallagher may be handed a place in midfield alongside Joao Palhinha and Archie Gray.
Cristian Romero, who missed the FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa due to suspension, is eligible to return and should partner Micky van de Ven at centre-back. It is still uncertain whether striker Dominic Solanke will be fit enough to start, as he continues his comeback from a six-month injury absence.
For West Ham, El Hadji Malick Diouf remains on international duty with Senegal at AFCON, while Konstantinos Mavropanos is expected to stay out with a neck injury, joining Lukasz Fabianski (back) on the sidelines. Mateus Fernandes will be assessed before kickoff due to an unspecified issue, while Lucas Paqueta (back) is also a doubt amid reports he is seeking a move to Flamengo in Brazil.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has returned from AFCON duty with DR Congo and has trained with the Hammers this week, making him likely to start at right-back. Max Kilman is set to replace the injured Mavropanos and partner Jean-Clair Todibo in central defence.
