In one of the most bizarre deals of the season, Chelsea have terminated Facundo Buonanotte’s loan deal with Brighton, so the Argentinian international can join Leeds United on a temporary deal until the end of the season. Leeds were on the verge of signing the 21-year-old on loan on deadline day of the summer window before Chelsea hijacked the deal.

Eyebrows were raised when the Stamford Bridge club signed Buonanotte on loan until the end of the season given the amount of options they had in attacking areas. Enzo Maresca had a strong relationship with the attacking midfielder from working together at Leicester but the Italian’s departure signalled the end of the road for his unremarkable Chelsea career.

Daniel Farke has wanted Buonanotte all season and he’s finally got his man on-loan until the end of the season. The Argentinian is a talented footballer and he will be tasked with providing creativity to Leeds’ main attackers. Brighton signed Buonanotte from Rosario Central for €6m in 2023 but he failed to nail down a regular starting role with the Seagulls. In total, Buonanotte made eight appearances for Chelsea, scoring one goal and his final outing arrived last weekend against Charlton in the FA Cup.
