Nottingham Forest star Murillo could be set for a move to Manchester United in the summer months – with the Red Devils thought to be ‘considering’ a move for the South American star in the summer transfer window.

United initially struggled in the Premier League to start the campaign, losing three of their first six games. However, they’ve only lost two of their resulting 15, including a win against rivals Liverpool, only being defeated by Everton and Aston Villa in that period.

However, the club have only kept two clean sheets throughout the campaign, both coming at home – and Murillo may be required to take them to the next level, with reports stating that United hold an interest.

Report: Manchester United ‘Considering’ Move for Nottingham Forest Star Murillo

The report by the Daily Mail states that United are considering a move for Murillo in the summer transfer window, with the Red Devils thought to be targeting a replacement for soon-to-depart star Harry Maguire.

The Brazilian has impressed massively in his two-and-a-half seasons in the Premier League, helping Forest to survive in his first campaign at the City Ground before being a key component of their side that achieved Europa League football in the previous campaign.

With that in mind, other clubs have taken notice of his talents, and he’s been admired by the wealthiest teams in the country. A previous report by the Mail suggested that Murillo is open to leaving Nuno Espirito Santo’s outfit, having been heralded as ‘one of the best young defenders in the Premier League’, and he is prominent on United’s radar.

Maguire is set to depart after seven years at United, and as a left-footed centre-back – a rare commodity in the transfer market these days – Murillo won’t have any shortage of suitors.

The 23-year-old already has 82 Premier League outings to his name, as well as a cap for the Brazilian national side, and he would make an exceptional signing at Old Trafford.

United already have Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven in their centre-back ranks, which is quite a strong quartet.

But Murillo has been a standout performer, noted for his physicality, speed, and ability with his feet to lead Forest out of defence.

At just 23 years old and with three-and-a-half years left on his contract, it won’t be cheap to prise him away from the East Midlands.

But with interim boss Michael Carrick hoping to lead his side into the Champions League, that could prove to be enough for Forest’s star defender to want to leave for Old Trafford if they finish in the top four.
