Liverpool City Region’s visitor economy is set to see a significant boost with the announcement of the 2027 Tour de France coming to the region.
Stage two of the men’s event on Saturday, 3 July 2027, will finish having travelled through Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens, in a historic announcement by the race organisers.
Competitors will race from the Cumbrian town of Keswick through Lancashire, eventually speeding through Knowsley and St Helens, before finishing the stage in a super sprint along Liverpool’s iconic waterfront.
Natalie Wyatt, Managing Director of the Liverpool City Region Destination Partnership, said:
“This is another huge boost to our region’s £6.25 billion visitor economy as cycling enthusiasts and the wider public are given the chance to see this iconic race, which finishes at the Three Graces on the iconic Liverpool waterfront.
“This event will attract people from all over the UK, Europe and further afield to experience the city region’s fantastic cultural offer and superb hospitality.
Tour de France will undoubtedly benefit our visitor economy, and we are delighted this prestigious event has chosen us to be part of the famous route, showcasing our region to a global audience and playing a part in sporting history.”
