Thomas Frank has confirmed Tottenham star Richarlison will be out for up to seven weeks after picking up a hamstring injury in the FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa.
The Brazilian, who has scored eight goals in 31 appearances for Spurs this season, limped off in the 31st minute against Unai Emery’s side last Saturday. He is now set for a spell on the sidelines, with Frank confirming the news ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against West Ham.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Frank said: “Richy unfortunately got a hamstring injury which will keep him out for up to seven weeks.”
There is more positive news on Lucas Bergvall, Yves Bissouma, Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke, however. There’s hope all four will be included in the squad after recent fitness concerns, with Bissouma now back from the Africa Cup of Nations after Mali were knocked out at the quarter-final stage by Senegal.
“Lucas could be available, hopefully for Saturday,” Frank added. “Bissouma is back so he’s available as well. Destiny and Dom got a good week of training so are closer to playing more minutes.”
Frank was speaking for the first time since Conor Gallagher’s £34.7million move from Atletico Madrid was confirmed. Spurs decided to move for the England international after Rodrigo Bentancur underwent surgery after injuring his hamstring during Spurs’ 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium earlier this month.
“I think Conor has a lot of good offensive abilities, his ability to arrive in the box and he’s a clever finishing,” Frank said of the former Chelsea man. “His skill set in the final third is good in terms of arriving in the right positions.
“I spoke to him about the project and the club and what we are aiming for and all of that suited him.”
