Nottingham Forest are going in search of new players this month and a striker is very much the order of the day.

The Reds are yet to add to their squad this month, and with a seven-point gap to the relegation zone, it feels as though the club are biding their time with transfers.

Forest are out of the FA Cup after a defeat to Wrexham, but do still have the Europa League to contend with and more reinforcements are the order of the day.

Youssef En-Nesyri is rejecting Forest ahead of a move to the Middle East and now it’s a case of back to the drawing board, with the club’s number one preference now suggested in a new report.

According to The Athletic, the Reds are eyeing one of four new striker targets with a varying degree of quality, and now the number one target has emerged.

It’s believed that Taremi is the number one striker target for this month, with the 33-year-old currently playing for Evangelos Marinakis’ other club, Olympiacos.

Taremi reached the Champions League final back in May with Inter and made the switch to Greece during the summer transfer window.

The experienced talisman and Iranian international has been in fine form for Olympiacos, scoring 13 goals in 21 appearances, and now he could be on the move.

Landing him won’t be easy, and the Reds have also identified Artem Dovbyk, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Youssef En-Nesyri as possible targets this month.

Taremi is no better than Arnaud Kalimuendo

Letting Sean Dyche pick players for the Reds during this transfer window could be seriously detrimental with his decision to let Arnaud Kalimuendo leave already looking curious.

Kalimuendo starred on his Eintracht Frankfurt debut and given that Taremi is the number one striker target, it hardly fills the fan base with any confidence.

The Frenchman is a 23-year-old striker with bags of potential and not playing him is something of a crime given that he proved himself with a couple of goals in the Europa League.

Kalimuendo was probably a project player, but there is absolutely no reason why he shouldn’t have been getting some more minutes on the pitch under Dyche.

Taremi is way past his best, and although he’s in fine form this season, he’s not going to be viewed as anything more than a short-term option.
