Love the show ive listened to you everyday for years but i couldn't disagree with you more on gyokeres/Jesus you dont talk about how much gyokeres does pushing back cb's and press and you dont mention how much Jesus stays back and let the defense move up 20yds and how many goals we've conceded with him on the pitch, and how much he looses the ball with too many touches or bad passes. We're top of the league, top of champions league and deep in other competitions if we're winning with a striker not linking up and scoring but gives us alot of other qualities how is that a bad thing?
Martinelli should be groomed as our second striker. Wish we actually did this earlier. Clearly does more through the middle than the wing. Gives us room to get another top left winger to compete with Trossard. Jesus should move on after this season. I think he lost his physicality and sharpness after the first injury. Needs a slower league. Gyokeres definately gives us more than Jesus.
Tom, king Kai is back!!š with, martinelli responding with a Hatrick
Sorry I missed the live but did anyone look at Kai and think āmy god he IS better than Gyokeresā ? Great result, on to the next !
GREAT SHIRT! š Merino?
Im based in sicily , from London:)
Like everyone I just want VG to come good. You donāt have a record like his the past two seasons without having talent. He needs to work harder and learn our system better because we play our best with a false 9 and I think itās too hard for the team to change their methods to suit a traditional 9⦠hopefully after a proper preseason to learn our ways he will be better for it
I don't like how Eze is playing, but you said that he was kinda at fault for us losing against Villa.
But he came off at halftime.
Although we were losing 1-0. And we came back in the 52nd minute. So I wouldn't blame Eze, even partly, for us losing the game
The obvious problem with your Palace/Portsmouth sample size is that we made wholesale changes in both games. Could also say "Arsenal create more when Madueke and Eze start." In fact I think that would be more statistically accurate because Madueke actually contributed to xG more than Jesus.
You can get $35ishM for Victor G I in the summer. In the right league he can flourish again.
If we play with the same forward we will become more predictable havertz and Jesus are similar yet different so we can be easy to play, yes VG is completely forward from what we got so we need figure out how can we get him in better positions and also he needs to look at his movement matter fact our transitions aren't really good if you analyze it we aren't decisive enough
It's almost like humour is subjective….
Why are we spending so much time damning Gyƶkeres? Nobody needs to tell me he's not been good enough so far. Jesus and Havertz are back. We stay top of both leagues and in all competitions. We were never going to get Isak and we gave up on Watkins. We didn't break the bank to get him and we need a striker of his profile. Too much drama. One fan on Latte Firm said we had a "striker crisis". Honestly, it's embarrassing how some of our fans talk.
I remember Theo Walcott talking about missing a pre-season. He said you never catch up. Youāll be behind for the whole season.
I canāt remember who in particular he was talking about. I remember the comments from a couple of years ago.
Ita crazy how all the fans wanted gyok but not the manager. He wanted sesko. How the fans didnt want havertz. Now look at the situation. Us fans really know nothing. Lol.
Morning Tommo! I donāt disagree that Kai and Jesus should probably be starting going forward. My concern is that neither of them can physically handle that yet. Kai will eventually, but I wonder if Jesus will ever be that week-in, week-out starter again without picking up injuries. Maybe it's just worry but yeah… I dunno š¤·
I watched the game on ESPN and the commentary was so weirdly biased. Didn't think Madueke going down was a penalty and said he should've been booked, and waxed lyrical about anything Portsmouth did. They had such a chip on their shoulder it was insane. Kept calling our goals "ugly", saying Kepa was unconvincing. It was to the point where it was incredibly unprofessional
Iām asking because I genuinely donāt know, but is a random fan yelling āyou cheating scumā that bad? Is it because he was yelling at people not playing or too close as in to be threatening. People yelling obscenities seems almost synonymous with sport these days. Again, only asking because I genuinely donāt know.
Kai Back! Hit the 1k and good to see the team rotate well + get a convincing win in an expected result!
Hey Tom, in your opinion, who is the best striker in the world with āthat profileā? Besides Harry Kane. Is it Julian Alvarez?
so glad Kai is back, we can play with 11 players
from now on.
VG need to adopt and improve, otherwise sale him to cut losses.
If the near future of television being switched off & moved to streaming exclusively, then the likes of these pundits won't be there? This will end pressure and talking points of players not performing. From what I've heard any channel that wishes to remain has to pay to be part of a 'sign up' subscription service so i can't see the likes of bbc, itv etc being around as these are watched minimally as it is. They know this and so i don't think will pay the fee to continue. It will be great for football when it's all on one streaming platform, or will it be the clubs broadcasting from their media ? As with television i can see printed papers being eased out, it's amazing papers still exist, reading yesterdays news. Personally can't wait till all that rubbish on television is switched off. How long until football moves to one place as I'm sure they'll be quickest to do so.
25:15 I agree the espn commentary was horrible, and they said many things with a lack of context or understanding
California here Tom! Good morning to you! Didnāt get to see it live. Caught the highlights. Big congrats to Gabriel for his hat trick. Do like Madueke a lot, in spite of the missed pen. Norgaard is rather like Merinoā¦ā¦.quiet and unassuming but very capable and professional. More Kai please.
Woof. Those stats on Viktor are disturbing. Hereās hoping they improve, eh?
Cheering from Tucson, Arizona. Think im the only fan here lol
Always good to have a couple games that don't feel life or death to reset the anxiety levels š . Good to see the rest of the squad getting minutes and great to see Kai getting back to action.
Speaking of Kai, could you ask Arteta exactly how high he wants us to "raise the roof"? Construction timelines and costs will vary depending on his answer. š·š¼āāļøšļø

Although the criticism of Gyokeres is valid considering the statistics, our record with the guy has been nothing short of excellent (14W 3D 2L). The losses to Liverpool and Villa (played 45 mins), and draws with Chelsea (18 mins), Man City and Liverpool (all played poorly). We can hardly pin down any team struggle on him.
Yes, we created more chances against Palace but still needed penalties, and I'm not doubting the Portsmouth scoreline would have been the same or larger if Gyokeres had played.
We can't judge a guy with matches he didn't play when the record of the team is excellent when he played….trending towards 90 points.
His box movement is definitely a problem and needs improvement; comparing our play to when Kai or Jesus are in the team is a disservice to G14 because we knew he was a different profile.
Whatever the coach decides to do, I hope we win with any of them playing upfront.
Happy for Martinelli, but it was a bit weird how Arteta just deferred to Arne Slot on the incident. Even if Gabi thinks itās mere time wasting, itās not good for him to push the player off the field. Itās poor sportsmanship and ends up wasting more time. I feel like Arteta should draw that line and not just excuse it because he thinks Martinelli is ālovely.ā That said the āgive him a pushā chants were hilariousš. Not a huge deal in the end.
Discourse around Eze is unfair.
He doesn't get the ball enough. This team needs to pass him the ball more.
He needs to receive the ball closer to the goal and not at the midfield line like Odegaard.
Cheers from Dublin, Ireland!
I'm from Trinidad and Tobago, live in Miami but presently, I'm in BogotĆ”, Colombia…. Hola Tom
What's the latest on Mosquera?
Good show Tom! Enjoyed it a lot. You got some silly sort of stupid questions, and you handled them very well! In the past you would have gotten more angry
