Dermot shouldn't be providing his opinion as its obvious his opinions are almost never objective and biased towards defending referees actions. His insight would be more meaningful if he based his opinions based on the law of the game, which I presume is why they involve him in the discussion to provide his specialist knowledge in the matter. Instead he just looks for reasons to avoid blaming refs for their poor decisions.

This is the problem. There needs to be rules for players being punished for grossly unsporting actions like this. This wasn't cleanly within the lines drawn out by these useless reffing entities, so this is allowed… That's it basically. It's not good enough.
