Andoni Iraola has outlined the expectations he has for Bournemouth in the winter window.
The Cherries conceded the battle to the ‘Big Six’ with the exit of top scorer Antoine Semenyofor £62.5 million to Man City this week. There is an even greater need now for the board to back the team with reinforcements in attack, and other areas of the field would also benefit from incomings.
“[The club] is working on situations and players that want to come here want to also grab those minutes that right now are available. And the players that are here, new signings that for sure we are going to make. I think we have to create another scenario where we can get results.
“But at the end we know that is with Antoine, also the Justin Kluivert injury are two big players for us now that we’ve lost in one week. And now it’s a different situation. And with the ones that we have here and the ones that we are going to assign, we have to create again the puzzle and make it work.
“We have to sign a winger. Yes. Antoine has played almost every minute with us. So there is a hole there that we have to fill. Probably is not with the same skills than Antoine or can be a different type of player or the player we can sign in the market.
“It’s a market that is not easy because there are not a lot of players available. No one wants to lose a good player in January, but we have to look at all the options we have available and try to get it right.
“Players we lost through injuries: Justin, Antoine, then Tyler Adams, Ben Gannon Doak, situations, especially wingers, players in the middle. Those are the positions that we’re trying to sign. Yes.”
