Pete Harvey, singer and songwriter for the band, said: “Pop music offers a dichotomy, a struggle between total freedom of expression and the quest for universal appeal.
“The unique talents of the rest of the band shape our sound. Leyanne Coombs is a whirling dervish soul diva, she delivers about half the vocals and nearly all of the dancing on stage.
“Alex Parent’s bass playing is a key ingredient too, his imaginative bass lines elevate the songs. And Ruby Parent’s ever inventive, whip-smart drumming drives us forward.”
The band, formed in 2021, has already gained recognition for its energetic live performances and festival appearances, including the Isle of Wight Festival, Wickham Festival, and Southampton’s Music in the City.
Its live shows have been described as full of “energy and movement”, blending bright, catchy moments with more fragile, emotive passages.
The album’s opening track, 51 Western Road, began as a lockdown collaboration and was the first song written by the band but the last to be recorded.
Of the remaining tracks, nine were written as part of February Album Writing Month (FAWM), an international songwriting challenge where participants attempt to write 14 songs in 28 days.
The band has enjoyed notable success, with two number one singles on the South Coast Music Chart.
It has also supported artists such as Funke and the Two Tone Baby, Martin Stephenson, Rozi Plain, Hanging Stars, and The Monochrome Set.
Festival crowds have responded positively to the group, with a standout performance at Beggars Fayre Romsey earning them the title of best new comer.
