Pre-match press conference with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola ahead of Manchester City v Brighton in the Premier League.

Guardiola gives a detailed injury update, confirming Ruben Dias has a hamstring injury and is expected to be out for around six weeks, while John Stones is not ready for the next games, with Guardiola unsure how long his absence will be.

He confirms Nathan Ake is fine and available, and explains the squad is stretched with several long term injuries and players away on international duty, while stressing City will cope with what they have.

Guardiola also reacts to Ruben Amorim losing his job at Manchester United, calling him a top manager and saying managers are given less time than ever in modern football.

He discusses managing player fatigue, assessing the squad day by day, the January transfer window, the challenge of sustaining a smaller squad, and praises Arsenal’s strength over the last two to three seasons, insisting margins at the top are very small.

  1. Club's don't want Managers anymore. They want "Yes" men who will do what they want and then blame them when that doesn't win them anything.

  2. As a united fan since 90s Amorim deserves better. Officially hanging up my Unt shirt, cant support a club that no longer resembles even 10% of United used to be (should be). Ggs

  3. Pep’s a liar, never forget how much he praised Onana and Maguire, baiting us into buying them(what a waste of 130 million), Amorim was deservedly sacked

  4. City can’t depend on B Silva and he couldn’t capitalise on chances that came his way in so many games and yet Pep keeps him in so many games, he has no faith in his youngsters on bench even though he’s team is struggling and if he still goes on with the strategies he has city will be winless this season. Youngsters should think twice joining city because there’s no way they can be successful in the way Pep handles them. He has to listen to genuine suggestions and he cannot get everything done alone.
